Location: Open Meetings are held in the Auditorium in the North York Central Library, 5120 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario. Once in the library foyer, visitors should take the stairs (the stair treads are blue) or the elevator to the second floor. (Don't go through the turnstiles into the library proper; there's no access to the Auditorium from there.) The Auditorium is across the landing from the stairs and elevator. Washrooms are a few steps away.

Directions by public transit: The North York Centre subway stop is one stop north of Sheppard on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. This link provides access to public transit maps and scalable street maps of Toronto. The North York Civic Centre complex is on top of the North York Centre stop. The North York Central Library is at the opposite end of the mall from where the subway exits.

Directions if driving: Take the 401 highway to the Yonge Street exit; go north on Yonge past Sheppard (the first big intersection). Six blocks north of Sheppard is a street called Empress Walk on the east side and Park Home Ave. on the west side. Take the left-turn lane onto Park Home. On Park Home, take the first left (Beecroft). The North York Civic Centre complex fills the block bounded by Yonge on the east side, Park Home on the north, Beecroft on the west and North York Blvd. on the south side. There is underground parking on Beecroft. Once parked underground, go into the elevator marked "Central Library" and push the button for "2." Passengers and/or paraphernalia may be dropped off via a U-shaped driveway leading to the library street entrance.

Standard meeting itinerary: Meetings run from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. From 1:30 to 2 is setup and an open discussion about recent and upcoming SF/fantasy books, movies, TV shows, etc. Newcomers are welcome to participate in the discussion. The guest speakers' part of the program starts around 2 p.m. After Q&A's, book signings (if an author is a guest) and a raffle, the official part of the meeting ends around 4:15 p.m for cleanup. Attendees are then welcome to join a group going to a movie at a local cinema. Movie choices tend to be genre-related, such as Harry Potter and Ironman.

Refreshments (chips, chocolate bars, pop) are for sale at meetings at very reasonable prices. Other food and drink can be found at the many convenience stores/cafés/drugstores in the North York Civic Centre complex.

Admission to Open Meetings is free for up to two meetings. After two meetings, we'd be delighted if you filled out a membership form (in Acrobat Reader pdf format; if you don't have Acrobat Reader, click on the logo). Memberships cost Can $30 a year, and new members are always welcome. Among membership benefits are free admission to meetings, a Christmas party, and the newsletter The Voyageur.
